What are the five pillars of Islam?

 

The most important Islamic practices are the Five Pillars of Islam. The five pillars of Islam are:

 

(1) Shahada (testimony of faith)

(2) Salah / Salat (Five prescribed daily prayers)

(3) Zakat (charity for the Poor)

(4) Saum (fasting during the month of Ramadan)

(5) Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca)

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):
1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.
2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.
3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) .
4. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca).
5. To observe fast (Saum) during the month of Ramadan.

‘I heard the Messenger of Allah say, “Islam has been built on five [pillars]: testifying that there is no deity
worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the salah (prayer),
paying the zakat (obligatory charity), making the hajj (pilgrimage) to the House, and fasting in Ramadan.”’

bn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah said, "(The superstructure of) Islam is based on five (pillars),

and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah], establishing As-Salat (the prayers), paying Zakat (poor due),
