Bible contradictions DEBUNKED
The CLAIM:
How could Ahaziah be both 22 years old and 42 years old when he started to reign?
2 Kings 8:26
Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri, king of Israel.
2 Chronicles 22:2
Ahaziah was forty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
Lets consider facts and evidence:
1) "2 Kings" was written by Jeremiah, around the time of 580 B.C.E., and covered 920 B.C.E. to 580 B.C.E. (according to JW.Com)
2) "2 Chronicles", was written by Ezra, around the of 460 BCE, and covered 1037 B.C.E. to 460 B.C.E. (according to JW.Com)
3) There was TWO Ahaziah's:
3a) One was the son of Ahab (1 Kings 22:49),
3b) One was the son of Jehoram (2 Kings 8:25)
4) Ahab was the son of Omri, king of Israel (1 Kings 16:29-16:30).
5) Jehoram was the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah (2 Kings 1:17).
Conclusion:
A COPYIST error, due to two Ahaziah's (uncle who was 42, and nephew who as 22) of the same period.
